Whether you're cleaning the office to reopen after COVID-19, keep it clean during cold and flu season or keep it clean all the time, these office cleaning solutions can help keep every part of the workspace clean.

5 Workspace Cleaning Tips

  1. Encourage each employee to use disinfectant to wipe the surfaces in personal workspaces when entering and leaving. This includes office equipment and light switches.
  2. Have each employee maintain a kit of business essentials that includes items that are normally shared, such as staplers, scissors and tape dispensers.
  3. Make sure debris, such as candy wrappers and perishables eaten at the desk, is thrown in the trash.
  4. Remove trash every day if it contains food particles or anything perishable.
  5. Deposit all recyclable materials in the appropriate recycling receptacles.

6 Break Room Cleaning Tips

  1. Wash any dishes, coffee cups and utensils that are on the counter or in the sink, and make sure they are dried and put away.
  2. Wipe off appliances, such as the microwave, the toaster oven and the outside of the refrigerator.
  3. Dispose of any old food that's in the refrigerator and wipe off shelves, door racks and interior walls.
  4. Disinfect tabletops and countertops where people prepare food and eat.
  5. Clean the floor by either sweeping and mopping or vacuuming.
  6. Clean surfaces on the water cooler and make sure there are cups available.

6 Restroom Cleaning Tips

  1. Clean hard surfaces, such as mirrors in front of sinks, stall doors and countertops.
  2. Fill toilet paper and paper towel dispensers.
  3. If there's a hand dryer, test it to make sure it works properly, then disinfect the surfaces, paying special attention to the ON button.
  4. Sweep and mop floors with disinfectant cleaner.
  5. Empty trash receptacles.
  6. Clean sinks and toilets with disinfectant cleaners.

6 Lobby Cleaning Tips

  1. Organize the welcome desk, and clean all surfaces touched by the receptionist and customers.
  2. Vacuum fabric-upholstered seating in the reception area, welcome mats and carpeting.
  3. Clean vinyl and leather seating with cleaner or a damp cloth.
  4.  Clean the lobby coffee machine or water cooler, and set out fresh filters and clean cups.
  5. Recycle old waiting room magazines and organize new ones on tables or magazine racks.
  6. Clean any surfaces that visitors typically touch, such as TV remotes, door handles, clipboards and phones.

6 Exterior Cleaning Tips

  1. Sweep sidewalks and parking lots to clear away hazards that could cause someone to trip.
  2. Make sure outdoor trash receptacles are emptied frequently to keep pests away.
  3. Shovel away snow and ice on footpaths to prevent slipping.
  4. Trim branches and shrubs that could catch people's clothing or hair.
  5. Clean windows to keep them free of dirt, germs and streaks.
  6. Clean and disinfect door handles and knobs that are frequently touched.

Keeping every area where people go and interact with the surfaces in and around the office helps everyone stay safe and healthy. Be sure to use cleaning products that contain disinfectant when working to get rid of germs, bacteria and viruses
